My work was based on gender and sexuality repression.
A painting I did for the Boxed In Exhibition. Four artists were involved in the exhibition. We all worked on boxes and worked under the theme of judgement.

This was a collaboration done in Bridge Pa with fellow artist Susan Mabin. We were asked to design the mural for a 750cm x240cm wall. The work was to commemorate New Zealands top Ametuer golfer Stewart Jones, who was a member of the Hastings Club. We both submitted three designs and one of my designs was picked, with a small alteration requested. I asked Susan to do Mt Erin from her design to tie the work to the area and unify the work. This painting is a parody of a Netherlands Gun Shooting club of the 17th centuray. The brave staff of our art department allowed me to do a group portrait of them. This was painted with my left hand as my right was in a splint at the time and I was given the choice of working left handed or a research assignment. So I did what any artist would. |
